The 10th Tactical Fighter Squadron is part of the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing. The 50th TFW was originally activated as the 50th Pursuit Group in 1940, and was based in England as part of the Ninth Air Force during the Second World War. The group was deactivated after the war, but reactivated in 1953 as part of the emergency buildup to counter the Soviet threat to the Western nations. The 10th TFS then moved to the newly built Hahn Air Base in West Germany to become part of the USAFE. The unit is currently equipped with the F-100 Super Sabre.
